Virtual via Zoom

Conference Information:

Who should attend this conference?

  • Treasurers and staff responsible for compliance with federal campaign finance laws for the following:
    • House and Senate Campaigns
    • National, State, District and Local Political Party Committees
    • Corporations, Trade Associations, Labor Organizations, Membership Organizations and their PACs
  • Attorneys, accountants and consultants for any of the organizations listed above
  • Anyone who wants to gain in-depth knowledge of federal campaign finance law as it applies to the organizations listed above
  • Anyone who wants to learn about recent changes resulting from campaign finance legislation and litigation

How do I choose which workshops to attend?

First, choose the track that applies to the type of organization you represent—a candidate’s campaign committee, a party committee or a corporate/labor/member/trade PAC.

Next, assess your experience with federal campaign finance law. Beginners should register for Basics for Beginners on Day 1 and Recent Developments in the Law on Day 2. More experienced participants may choose to attend Recent Developments on Day 1, rather than Basics for Beginners, though some may benefit from the refresher Basics provides. On Day 2, experienced participants may choose our scenario-based Advanced Practicum or Recent Developments, if they did not attend that workshop on Day 1.

If you are not sure which workshops are right for you, please email us at conferences@fec.gov or call 800-424-9530 (option 6) for assistance.

How will the virtual conference work?

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this conference will be held in a fully-virtual environment, with all workshop speakers and participants joining the meeting online via Zoom. To make this event as collaborative as possible, participants will be able to ask questions, use a chat function, answer poll questions, and interact with presenters and other participants. For full details on the virtual option, please consult the Virtual Attendance page on the conference registration site.

I'm with a nonconnected PAC, can I attend to this conference?

You may attend, but the content of this conference is not tailored to your type of organization. For information on outreach opportunities that better suit your organization's needs, please visit the FEC's Trainings webpage.

What is the schedule?

The welcome on Tuesday, November 16 will start at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time. Workshops will commence at 9:45 a.m. Eastern Time on November 16 and finish at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time. On Wednesday, November 17, workshops will begin at 10:15 a.m. Eastern Time and end at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time. A full agenda is available here.

Are CLE credits (or continuing education credits) available?

The FEC will provide all attendees with a letter certifying participation in the conference, including an agenda and staff bios, which participants can use to independently apply for CLE or other credits. The FEC has not applied in any state to be an official CLE sponsor. However, attendees have applied on their own and received continuing education credits for their attendance at FEC conferences. Contact your state MCLE organization (or state board of accountancy, for accountants) for more information. Feel free to email conferences@fec.gov if you have further questions related to CLE credits.
